Please
call the Presurgical Testing Department at 703-689-9005 to
make an appointment for your preoperative interview. A nurse
will inquire about your medical/surgical history and go over
the preoperative instructions. Inform the Hospital of any
drug allergies and latex sensitivity.
The Department
will also arrange for the required preoperative testing to
be performed. If your insurance company requires laboratory
testing to be done by a contracted laboratory or the Primary
Care Provider, it’s mandatory to bring the order form.
Our Surgical
Coordinator will obtain preauthorization for your surgery
prior to the procedural date. If there is any difficulty,
the Office will notify you in the event of a postponement
or denial.
Please
adhere to the following guidelines prior to the surgery:
1.
No aspirin or aspirin-related medications
for
1. 10 days
prior to surgery. Tylenol is permissible.
2.
Nothing to eat or drink from midnight, the
night
1. before your
surgery.
3.
Be at the Hospital 11/2 hours prior to the
1. scheduled
surgery time.
4.
Bring your MRI films to the Hospital with
you on
1. the day
of surgery. Dr. Melisi will not perform the
1. procedure
without the MRI's present.
5.
Follow all instructions provided by the
1. Presurgical
Nurse.
6.
If you have any questions regarding the
1. preoperative
instructions, surgery or postoperative
1. care, please
call the Office. We are here to
1. help you.
7.
When you get home from the Hospital, call
the
1. office to
make a follow-up appointment for 10-14
1. days postoperatively.
